“Core 2: Constructions”

Instructor: Nancy Nichols

BACK

A mixed-use building in downtown Providence, RI, housing a public lobby, cafe, and double-height public theater. Upper floors feature company offices and gallery space. The design is rooted in a grid that controls setbacks and shifts in the facade. It explores how the facade and core can, together, create both interior and exterior spatial conditions that function as designated activity zones without the need for a significant amount of physical partitions.
